Nancy Burse, EdD
Dr. Burse has over 39 years experience as an educator. She has taught high school, college and adult education courses and served in various learning & development positions in the private industry. She received her Doctor of Education, Curriculum and Instruction-Higher Education/Law from the University of Cincinnati.
Currently, Nancy is a Manager in the Education and Learning Department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). In this capacity, she is responsible for a team of education consultants (EC) and facilitators who design and deliver both workforce and leadership educational programs for CCHMC employees. She is also the department account manager for several major institutional initiatives including safety integration. Most recently, she led a team of EC’s who developed and designed a series of e-learning modules for the Fellowship Core Curriculum project.
Prior to coming to CCHMC, Dr. Burse maintained a consulting client base and served as Director of Training and Development for National In-Store in Sarasota, FL. She was responsible for developing an effective corporate leadership, learning & development, and talent management strategy to drive business objectives and develop talent from within. She also designed aptitude assessments for independent contractors, created scorecard metrics to support professional and leadership development, and initiated a career path program that linked capabilities, performance management, and career development to company goals, strategies and measures.
Before going to National In-Store, she held multiple T&D positions for GE. As Director of Curriculum for GE Driver Development, Nancy was responsible for designing and maintaining curriculum used with driving simulators in the transportation and law enforcement industries.
She also served as Manager of EHS Education for GE Aircraft Engines. She was instrumental in the design, delivery and evaluation of EHS education programs for 26,000 global employees. Within this role she was responsible for curriculum/instructional design; video scripting and editing; instruction, facilitation and evaluation; and project management. She implemented business-wide Driver Awareness and behavior-based safety programs in addition to designing and teaching numerous courses/workshops including Leadership Skills, Compliance, Time Management, Communication Skills, Technical Writing, Incident Investigation, and Continuous Improvement/Six Sigma.
Dr. Burse has also served as a consultant to NBC/Universal and GE Infrastructure and as an adjunct professor at several major universities in Ohio and Florida where she taught multiple quality improvement courses.
Prior to working in the private industry, Nancy taught high school English, journalism and driver education. She also served as a feature writer/photographer on the staff of the Star Free Press in Ohio.
